A new taxi-hailing app operating on a different business model has been launched in the Kenyan market.
On the new platform dubbed Showfa, cab drivers and motorbike riders will be required to pay a one-off daily or monthly subscription, unlike other platforms where they are charged a commission per trip.
Speaking during the launch attended by Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Showfa Business Development Director Dhruv Rajah said the interests of the drivers had been well captured in their unique operation.
“We have done market research and what the riders and drivers tell us is that they pay too much and exorbitant fees in commissions to foreign companies. We want to change that, we want a platform where they can save more,” Rajah said.
“When you have a happy driver or a rider, the customers flow in because they are assured of better services.”
