Teenage referees Zulfa Abdul Ahmed and Nema Adul Ghan are back in school at Getembe Mixed Secondary School in Kisii County after President Uhuru Kenyatta cleared their Ksh.14, 000 cumulative school fees arrears.

State House Comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua facilitated the payment of the deficit for the pair who are in forms two and three. This follows their story being aired on Citizen TV’s JKL show on Wednesday.

The sisters, who are FKF class three referees, said they were not in school because they couldn’t afford to clear the outstanding payments.

President Kenyatta similarly promised to look into ways of advancing the pair’s ambitions to become top-class FIFA referees.

The sisters have been officiating lower league football matches in Kisii and they have been supporting their families with the little money they earn in the process
