A$AP Rocky Creates New Opportunity for Students
A$AP Rocky is giving the next generation of creatives a major opportunity to pursue their ambitions through higher education.
The Harlem-born rapper has announced a four-year, full-tuition scholarship for one incoming freshman at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University in Brooklyn.
The scholarship will cover the selected student’s tuition for the full four years of their degree.
Applications are currently open for students seeking admission for Fall 2027, with the deadline set for December 15, 2026.
Rocky Wants Young Creatives to Create Their Own Lane
The rapper explained that the initiative reflects his belief in helping talented young people find their own paths.
“I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” Rocky said.
He added that many young people have talent, ambition, ideas and something meaningful to say, describing the scholarship as a way to help one student turn that vision into reality.
The initiative extends his influence beyond music and fashion into education and opportunities for emerging talent.
A Scholarship Focused on Entertainment Careers
The Roc Nation School was established through a partnership between Long Island University and Roc Nation and began enrolling students in 2021.
The Brooklyn-based school prepares students for careers across areas including music, sports business, entertainment management, entrepreneurship and performance.
Students also receive opportunities to build professional networks and gain practical experience alongside their academic studies.
For an aspiring musician, producer, performer or entertainment professional, the scholarship could provide a pathway into an industry-focused educational environment without the burden of tuition costs.
Rocky Joins Other Stars Supporting the School
Rocky is not the first major entertainment figure to support students at the Roc Nation School.
The school has previously received scholarship support from DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Guru and NBA star LaMelo Ball.
Young Guru also serves as director of the school’s Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production programme.
Their involvement reflects the school’s wider connection with established figures from music, sports and entertainment.
Roc Nation School Already Offers Tuition Support
The new scholarship also adds to existing financial assistance available through the institution.
LIU says its Roc Nation Hope Scholarship programme provides tuition-free education for 25 per cent of students in each incoming class.
The programme is aimed at academically competitive, first-time freshmen with financial need and includes mentorship, enrichment opportunities, community engagement and career connections.
Rocky’s scholarship will create another opportunity for an incoming student to receive full tuition support.
Fall 2027 Student to Receive Four Years of Support
The scholarship is specifically intended for a first-time freshman entering the Roc Nation School in Fall 2027.
Applications opened in October 2026 and will close on December 15, 2026.
The selected student will receive full tuition coverage for four years while pursuing their education at the Brooklyn campus.
The opportunity could be particularly significant for students who have creative ambitions but face financial barriers to pursuing an entertainment-focused university education.
A$AP Rocky Extends His Legacy Beyond Music
Known for his work as a rapper, producer, entrepreneur and fashion figure, Rocky has built a career around creativity and individuality.
His latest initiative takes that philosophy into education by giving another young creative a chance to develop their skills and build a professional future.
Rather than simply encouraging young people to follow their ambitions, the scholarship provides one student with practical financial support to pursue them.
For the eventual recipient, the opportunity could mark the beginning of a four-year journey at a school designed to connect education with the entertainment industry.
Rocky’s message behind the initiative is simple: young creatives should have the opportunity to build their own lane — and now, one student will have the financial support to start that journey.
