Mombasa DCI Refutes Claims of Suspects Breaking into State House, Clarifies Arrest Details
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mombasa have dismissed rumors circulating online that two suspects arrested in the county had broken into the Mombasa State House.
In a statement, the DCI clarified that the suspects were detained on November 11, 2024, for handling suspected stolen property, not for any breach of State House security.

Earlier, social media posts spread allegations that the suspects had broken into the State House by smashing a window, then slept inside before being apprehended. The DCI strongly refuted these claims, explaining that the two men, aged 20 and 29, were arrested after being linked to stolen goods.
The DCI further stated that the suspects were apprehended following a tip-off from the public. A subsequent search at Rio House on Digo Road led to the recovery of stolen electronics, including 51 mobile phones and several laptops, worth over Ksh 1.2 million.
Debunking the Fake Narrative
The fabricated story also suggested that State House cooks overheard snoring from the Presidentβs bedroom and alerted security, leading to the discovery of the suspects. However, the DCI confirmed that no such incident occurred at the State House. Instead, the suspects were found with the stolen items during the raid on Rio House, and no damage or theft took place at the official residence.
