Premier League Season Ends in Drama as Arsenal Claim Glory and Westham United go down on Final-Day

European Race Goes to the Wire While West Ham Suffer Relegation Blow

The 2025-26 Premier League season delivered drama from the opening weekend to the final whistle on the last day. While Arsenal celebrated a long-awaited league title, battles for European qualification and survival produced tension across the division until the closing moments of the campaign.

In the end, Arsenal finished top of the table with 85 points after winning 26 matches and losing only five all season. Mikel Arteta guided his side with consistency, defensive discipline and attacking balance as the Gunners finally reclaimed the league crown ahead of Manchester City.

Manchester City pushed Arsenal for much of the season and secured second place with 78 points. However, Pep Guardiola’s side dropped crucial points during the closing weeks and ultimately failed to sustain another title-winning run. Even so, City comfortably qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, Manchester United enjoyed one of their strongest league campaigns in recent years. United finished third with 71 points and secured Champions League football after showing improved consistency under pressure. Aston Villa also completed an impressive season by finishing fourth on 65 points to book another place among Europe’s elite.

Liverpool Recover to Secure European Football

Although Liverpool struggled for consistency throughout the campaign, they still claimed fifth place with 60 points and secured European football for next season. However, supporters expected more from a club that entered the season with ambitions of challenging for the title.

Further down the table, Bournemouth emerged as one of the season’s surprise packages. Their disciplined performances and remarkable unbeaten run helped them finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League. Newly promoted Sunderland also exceeded expectations by claiming seventh place and another Europa League spot after a fearless return to the top flight.

At the same time, Brighton & Hove Albion edged into the UEFA Conference League places after finishing eighth with 53 points. Brighton narrowly stayed ahead of Brentford and Chelsea, both of whom missed out despite strong periods during the season.

Chelsea’s campaign, in particular, ended in disappointment. The club entered the final day with hopes of securing a European place but failed to deliver under pressure. Defensive mistakes and poor discipline once again hurt the team during decisive moments of the season.

Tottenham Survive After Turbulent Campaign

The biggest story on the final day centered around Tottenham Hotspur and their desperate fight to avoid relegation. Spurs entered the final round knowing they needed a result against Everton to stay in the Premier League.

Under immense pressure, Tottenham delivered a narrow but crucial victory that lifted them to 17th place with 41 points. Their survival condemned West Ham United to relegation after the Hammers failed to escape the bottom three.

For Spurs, the season exposed deep problems within the club. Three different managers — Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and Roberto De Zerbi — took charge during a chaotic campaign that nearly ended in disaster.

Although Tottenham survived, major questions remain about recruitment, leadership and long-term direction. The club finished only two points above the relegation zone despite entering the season with European ambitions.

Everton Fade While Relegated Clubs Fall Short

Everton ended the season in 13th place with 49 points after a dramatic collapse during the final weeks. Earlier in the spring, the club appeared capable of challenging for European qualification. However, seven matches without a victory destroyed those hopes.

Manager David Moyes struggled to solve Everton’s attacking issues, frequently rotating between forwards without finding a reliable scorer. As a result, Everton closed the campaign with frustration rather than optimism.

At the bottom of the table, West Ham joined Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers in suffering relegation to the Championship. Burnley collected only 22 points, while Wolves endured a disastrous campaign and finished last with just 20 points.

Final Table Reflects a Season Full of Surprises

The final standings highlighted the unpredictability of one of the most competitive Premier League seasons in recent memory. Arsenal finally ended their wait for another title, Manchester United returned to the Champions League places, and Sunderland shocked many observers with a top-seven finish.

At the same time, traditional powers such as Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham endured seasons filled with instability and disappointment.

Ultimately, the 2025-26 campaign proved once again why the Premier League remains the most unpredictable and dramatic football league in the world. From the title race to the relegation battle, every point carried enormous weight, and the final table reflected a season shaped by pressure, resilience and late twists.
