President-elect William Ruto and the deputy president-elect, Rigathi Gachagua led the Kenya Kwanza brigade in attending the holy mass at Christ the King Catholic Cathedral in Bungoma county on Sunday.

The president-elect described the general election on August 9th as the best and most credible the country has ever had.

“IEBC katika uchaguzi huu, wamefanya mambo ambayo haijawai kufanyika, wamefanya uchaguzi wa huru na wamefanya uchaguzi wa haki. If there is a transparent election that has been held in the nation of Kenya it is the one of 9th August 2022,” Ruto said.

Kenya Kwanza singled out IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati for his role in the recently concluded General Election.

“He deserves accolades, had he wavered, had he not stood firm, there were those hell-bent on snatching the victory of William Ruto from him through unorthodox methods,” Kenya Kwanza principal Musalia Mudavadi said.

Chebukati, according to Ruto, stood out as a hero during the elections by refusing to accept blackmail and bribery in order to serve as a public servant.

“That we can resist bribery, and blackmail and intimidation and serve the public interests as public servants and I want to say Chebukati is the hero of this election,” Ruto added.

The leaders expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would uphold Ruto’s victory and vowed to keep their promise to the Mulembe nation of a share of the Kenya Kwanza government.

Some of the proposals include naming Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula as National Assembly Speaker.

The president-elect has also urged Kenya to maintain the current state of calm even after the Supreme Court issues its decision on the presidential petition on Monday next week.

“All of us including our competitors, let us maintain that new standard even as we wait for the decision of the supreme court, let us be vigilant, let us be peaceful, and let us ensure that we move together and avoid conflict and anything that can bring issues between the people of Kenya,” he added.
