United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party chairperson Johnstone Muthama has promised to give half of his salary to needy children so that they enroll in schools if elected Machakos governor in the upcoming August polls.

Speaking in Machakos on Tuesday at a roadside rally, Muthama promised that he will champion for the education of children, fully equip hospitals, amongst other areas crippling progress across the county.

“I do not need a salary. Per my manifesto, I will give out 50% of my salary to needy children so that they can go to school,” he said.

He went on to emphasize that his intention is not to profit from the people’s finances but safeguard them for a better and accessorized community.

Muthama will be contesting against a number of strong candidates who have likewise thrown their hats in the ring to succeed incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua.

Among them is Former transport & infrastructure CAS Wavinya Ndeti, Deputy Governor Francis Maliti, Rose Mulwa of the Empowerment and Liberation Party, and former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.
