Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria says he would prefer working with Deputy President William Ruto- his friend- but he is not willing to fold his Chama Cha Kazi party in order to join UDA.
Kuria, who claims to have been the chief data analyst in the last four General Elections; having began with Mwai Kibaki in 2007, says he is now focused on strenghthening his party and targets at least 10 governors and as many MPs as possible in the 2022 polls.
“Right now I am just a public commentator when it comes to presidential elections,” said the legislator.
“My preference is to work with the deputy president because he’s my friend, we have worked together, we have suffered together,” he added.
Kuria, who says he is currently not affiliated with any presidential candidate, was speaking to Citizen TV at his home in an exclusive interview that aired on Sunday night.
“It was my desire that I continue working with William Ruto and I hope that opportunity will present itself at some point, but for the time being, William Ruto has said that if you want to work with him you have to join UDA…” said Kuria.
“Right now I’m very busy putting up a machinery that is going to win a lot of parliamentary seats… ensuring that a lot of MCA are elected on Chama cha Kazi, especially young people and women…”
Kuria claimed that his close ally-ship with the Deputy President has cost him dearly, citing his ouster from the Parliamentary Transport, Public Works & Housing Committee and the Budget and Appropriation Committee last year.
“The Transport committee in the National Assembly is a very powerful committee, I was the vice chair of that committee. Do you know why I am not the vice chair anymore? Because of my association with William Ruto,” said Kuria.
“The Budget and Appropriation Committee which I was very proud of. I was appearing on your TV and other public for a to comment about our economy… since I put my foot in parliament I have been a member of the budget committee. I was removed from that committee, why? Because I am a friend of William Ruto.”
