Sebo Arrested in Homa Bay After Court Warrant
Police in Homa Bay County have arrested Kassim Abdi Sebo, described by officers as an alleged “chief goon,” months after violent scenes disrupted a political rally in the region.
Sebo was arrested on Thursday night, October 8, 2026, at Homa Bay Bus Stage as officers from Homa Bay Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) executed an arrest warrant issued by the Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14.
According to a police report, the warrant relates to an alleged offence of assault causing actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 251 of the Penal Code.

The arrest comes amid heightened attention on political violence and allegations of organised groups disrupting public gatherings in parts of the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Seven Other Men Arrested During Operation
Police also arrested seven men accused of obstructing officers as they carried out the operation.
The men were identified as Achiando Victor Odhiambo, Isaac Masika Muliro, Oyege Moses Geoffrey, Geoffrey Njore, Odhiambo Wesley Arnold, Joseph Kobila and Alfred Nyagiro Aliwa.
Their arrests brought the total number of suspects detained during the operation to eight, including Sebo.

Police said the suspects were being held pending their appearance in court. The specific allegations against the seven men concern their alleged conduct during the arrest operation, rather than the original assault case.
All the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty through the legal process.
Homa Bay Protests Reported After Sebo’s Arrest
The arrest reportedly triggered protests in parts of Homa Bay town, where groups of youths demanded Sebo’s release.
Media reports said some protesters blocked roads and lit fires, disrupting movement around parts of the town. The demonstrations raised concerns about public safety and the possibility of further tension following the operation.
The reported unrest placed the town’s security situation under renewed scrutiny as police continued holding the suspects.
Authorities have not established in court that Sebo or the other arrested men committed the offences alleged against them.
Connection to Earlier Political Rally Chaos
The arrest comes months after clashes disrupted a Linda Mwananchi political rally in Homa Bay in August 2026.
The event drew national attention after violence was reported during the visit by opposition figures. Reports said the clashes resulted in deaths, injuries and property destruction.
Sebo had reportedly attracted police attention in connection with the wider incidents, but the warrant cited in the latest arrest relates specifically to an alleged assault causing actual bodily harm.
The distinction is important: being linked in reports to a wider incident does not, by itself, establish criminal responsibility for every act committed during the unrest.
What Happens Next in the Sebo Case?
The next stage will involve the suspects appearing before court, where the allegations can be addressed through the judicial process.
Investigators will be expected to present the relevant case details and evidence as proceedings continue. Further information may emerge as the court process clarifies the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the obstruction claims.
The case also renews questions about security at political gatherings and how authorities respond to suspected organised violence while protecting the rights of those arrested.
For residents of Homa Bay, the immediate concern remains restoring calm and ensuring that any allegations are investigated lawfully.
Sebo’s arrest is a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of political unrest in the county, but the outcome will ultimately depend on the evidence presented and the court’s determination.
