The Irish striker finished after Betis recovered possession and launched another attack, putting the visitors ahead for the first time. Suddenly the team that had been behind twice was leading.
Lille lose control
The hosts were given another blow when Ethan Mbappé was sent off after an incident involving Nathan. With Lille down to 10 men, Betis were able to manage the final stages more effectively.
The Spanish side had to remain disciplined because Lille continued to search for an equaliser, but Betis eventually protected their advantage. The final whistle confirmed one of the night’s most impressive comebacks.
