Woman Charged in Ksh50.9 Million Fraud Case as DCI Hunts Two More Suspects

A woman accused of being part of a fraudulent scheme involving Ksh50.9 million (USD 394,209) has been arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts and charged with conspiracy to defraud and providing false information to a public officer.

The suspect, identified as Salma Osman Gureye, was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on April 30, 2026, following investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to the DCI, the arrest was made possible through the agency’s #FichuaKwaDCI initiative after members of the public shared critical information that helped detectives track her down.

Investigators also arrested another suspect linked to the alleged fraud, Abdinoor Sharmake Mohamed, as investigations into the case continue.

In a statement, the DCI said the case demonstrates how public participation is helping authorities crack down on suspects attempting to evade justice.

β€œThrough #FichuaKwaDCI, ordinary citizens are becoming the eyes and ears of justice, empowering detectives to close in on suspects who believe they can evade detection,” the DCI stated.

Authorities are now appealing to members of the public to help locate two additional suspects – Muna Dahir Dalmar and Shamis Warsame Osma – who remain at large.

The case is expected to proceed before the Makadara Law Courts in the coming days as detectives continue with investigations into the alleged fraud network.
