Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has emerged as Kenya’s best-performing legislator according to the latest CountyTrak Performance Index released by InfoTrak Research and Consulting, reaffirming his growing national profile and strengthening his reputation as one of the country’s most visible and active lawmakers.

The nationwide survey, unveiled on July 1, 2026, ranked Babu Owino first among Kenya’s 290 Members of Parliament with an impressive 80 percent approval rating, placing him ahead of several seasoned legislators from across the political divide. The findings reflect citizens’ perceptions of their elected leaders’ performance in service delivery, accessibility, development initiatives, legislative effectiveness and representation.
Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga ranked second with a 78 percent approval rating, while Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Taveta MP John Bwire shared third position with 76 percent each. Other lawmakers featuring prominently in the rankings included Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek, Belgut MP Nelson Koech and Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo Kipkoech.
A Reflection of Public Confidence
The CountyTrak Performance Index is one of Kenya’s most comprehensive governance perception surveys. Unlike political opinion polls that focus on electoral preferences, the Index measures how citizens rate the day-to-day performance of elected leaders.
According to InfoTrak, the 2026 survey was conducted between January and May across all 47 counties, covering 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards. More than 87,000 respondents participated, making it one of the largest citizen-based assessments of elected leadership in the country. The survey evaluates MPs based on public visibility, accessibility, responsiveness to constituents, development record, accountability and overall effectiveness in representing the people.
Why Babu Owino Continues to Stand Out
Babu Owino’s top ranking is not an isolated achievement. Over the past several years, the Embakasi East legislator has consistently featured among Kenya’s highest-rated MPs in independent performance surveys and leadership awards.
Beyond parliamentary debates, Babu Owino has increasingly positioned himself as a development-oriented leader. His emphasis on education, legal advocacy, youth empowerment and community engagement has earned him recognition from various organizations assessing leadership performance.
Earlier in 2026, he was also honoured during the Starleaders Awards after being recognised among Kenya’s best-performing Members of Parliament, reinforcing a trend that has seen him receive multiple independent accolades for public service.
