Fernandes Barasa has been declared the winner in the Kakamega Governor race.
The governor-elect, who contested on an ODM ticket, garnered 192,929 votes, trouncing his opponent Cleophas Malala of ANC who got 159,508.
Others who lost in the race were UDP’s Cyrus Jirongo with 5,974 votes, Michael Osundwa (Independent) with 1,146 votes, KANU’s Suleiman Sumba with 1,078 votes, MDP’s Samuel Omukoko with 761 votes, and Austin Opitso who got 150 votes.
The total votes cast were 361,546 and 2,174 were rejected.

The election for the county had been postponed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following a mix-up of ballot materials during the August 9th General Election.
