Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has warned Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru that her decision to abandon President Uhuru Kenyatta and join Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party will come back to haunt her.

“We have learnt of the decision to sign up with team yellow. As the Ibo say, a toad does not run in the daytime for nothing,” Kinyanjui said in a Facebook post.

According to Kinyanjui, timing is key in politics and making the right decision can make or break an elected official’s political career.

“In politics, timing is key. It is what distinguishes a master stroke from a disastrous move. It has ended many careers if not well thought,” the Nakuru Governor said.

“Having said that, I am reminded of the parable of the ladies who finished their oil before the main wedding. When the final days came they were empty. The wedding starts in January.”

Kinyanjui however congratulated Waiguru for her service to President Uhuru;s Jubilee party citing that she will be remembered for the part she played in the party during President Kenyatta’s term in office.

“We respect her decision ad wish her well in the coming season. We shall remember her as a respected and resourceful member of our team.”

Kinyanjui’s bashing of Waiguru’s decision was mirrored by Kieni Member of Parliament, Kanini Kega who cautioned Waiguru to be wary of tough times ahead after making the jump to UDA

“The red carpet reception you have received is only valid for today. Save this post for future reference,” he stated.

Governor Waiguru, who is seeking to defend her seat in 2022, joined Ruto’s UDA party on Tuesday after meeting the Deputy President at his official residence in Karen. She was accompanied by about 23 members of Kirinyaga’s County Assembly.

“Wale watu ambao tunahudumia kule mashinani wametuambia chama ni UDA na form ni hustler na mpango ni bottom –up,” Waiguru said in Karen while announcing her decision.

According to Waiguru her decision was informed by the fact that the Mount Kenya region is dissatisfied with how the Jubilee party has been run in the past five years.
