Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has hit out at Rift Valley Regional Commander (RC) George Natembeya over his recent declaration to contest for the Trans Nzoia governor’s seat in the 2022 polls.

Following Natembeya’s Sunday endorsement by the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Senator Murkomen has now dismissed the RC as unfit to hold any elective position.

“I want to plead with you the people of Trans Nzoia, please don’t make a mistake of electing Natembeya. If you make that mistake, I can assure you, you will have to kneel before him to get county services,” Murkomen stated during a rally in Kitale, Saboti Constituency, on Tuesday.

The lawmaker referred to the police boss as a dictator, accusing him of imprisoning and harassing innocent youth during his reign.

Murkomen went further to assert that he would personally rally his support behind any United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate to ensure Natembeya does not clinch the Trans Nzoia County top seat.

“You’ll see me camping in this county campaigning for UDA’s candidate because we cannot risk having a dictator in a democratic country,” he stated.

In the race to succeed incumbent Governor Patrick Khaemba, Natembeya will battle against; the Office of the Deputy President’s Legal Advisor Abraham Sing’oei and Infrastructure/ICT advisor Maurice Kakai Bissau, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Philemon Samoei, Teresa Metto, and Julia Kichwen.
