Rowdy Goons Disrupt Ceremony, Causing Injuries and Property Damage

Chaos erupted during a funeral ceremony in Limuru on Thursday, attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, when a group of rowdy individuals disrupted the solemn event. The unexpected violence turned a moment meant for mourning into one of panic and destruction.

Chaos at Limuru Funeral: Disruption Leaves Mourners Injured, VIPs Escape Unhurt

Videos from the scene show mourners running for safety as the attackers began shaking the tent where VIPs were seated. Plastic chairs and other objects were thrown, escalating the situation further. The disruption left property, including vehicles, damaged. As several mourners sustained injuries and had to be rushed to hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, Gachagua was not harmed during the incident and managed to leave the venue safely.

Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia was among those affected, as his car was vandalized in the chaos. Speaking about the incident, Kaguchia termed the attack “well-coordinated” and raised concerns about the security arrangements for the former Deputy President.

“While in the company of HE Rigathi Gachagua at a funeral in Limuru, we were attacked by well-coordinated goons in a most unfortunate turn of events,” Kaguchia said. “It’s shocking that those against HE Rigathi Gachagua have now resorted to violence and goonism.”

Kaguchia further questioned the motives behind the attack, suggesting that it may have been politically motivated. He warned that such actions threaten to take the country in the wrong direction and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

The motive for the disruption remains unclear. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to uncover the perpetrators and their reasons. For now, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of public figures and the security of events in the region.
