“Alex Mwakideu Denies Allegations of Being Paid to Defend Adani Amid JKIA Deal Controversy”

Kenyan radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has strongly denied claims that he was paid to promote a favorable image of the Adani Group on radio and social media. The accusations were made by Nelson Amenya, an X user who also claims to be a whistleblower in the controversial Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)-Adani deal. Amenya urged the public to review Mwakideu’s social media and Radio 47 broadcasts for evidence of him defending Adani.

In response, Mwakideu issued a firm challenge, offering KSh 1 million to anyone who could provide proof of such claims. “I don’t know who posted this, but I hear he’s called Nelson Amenya. Check all my social media pages, listen to Radio 47. If you find any evidence of Alex Mwakideu defending Adani in any way, I’ll give you 1 million shillings cash. There’s no time limit on this offer, so take your time. All the best!” he stated.

Amenya alleged that Mwakideu, along with other influencers, had been paid by a Kenyan marketing company to improve Adani’s public image. He even shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp group that allegedly included Mwakideu, suggesting that the group was part of a broader strategy to rehabilitate Adani’s image in Kenya.

These accusations come at a time when public scrutiny around the Adani Group’s involvement in Kenyan infrastructure projects, particularly the JKIA deal, is high. The Indian conglomerate has faced allegations of corruption and exploitation in other countries, raising concerns about its role in Kenya.

Supporters of Mwakideu have defended his integrity, pointing to his long-standing career in the media. However, others are calling for a full investigation to ensure transparency and verify whether the allegations hold any merit.
