POLICE RECOVER OVER 1,000 BULLETS IN MARSABIT

Police officers involved in the ongoing “Rejesha Amani Marsabit” operation have recovered over 140 rifles and 1, 000 rounds of ammunitions in one month.

Cabinet Secretary for National Coordination and Internal Security, Dr Fred Matiangi on May 1 pronounced a dawn to dusk curfew as a security measure to help reduce rising cases of killings in Marsabit county. At the same time, Kom sub-location in neighbouring Isiolo County was declared a disturbed area to allow officers to conduct a similar security operation.

On this backdrop, the officers have been actively engaged in the mop up exercise which began on May 2, 2022.

“It is very encouraging that the operation is bearing some good fruits going by the large number of illegal firearms being recovered,” said operation’s Commander Bernard Mbatha.

In a span of one month alone the recovery exercise has achieved significant success.

In one of the most recovery exercise the police officers found four rifles and 138 rounds of ammunitions.

A suspect who had been arrested is said to have led the officers to the site where recovery was made.

According the police, the weapons were found in Manyatta Chorora within Saku sub-county in Marsabit county.

The operation that led to the latest recovery of rifles and ammunitions was led by commander Mbatha, DCC Marsabit Central David Saruni and Marsabit police commander Robinson Mboloi.
