Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a 36-year-old man who is alleged to have killed another man over avocadoes worth Ksh.100.
Confirming the incident, Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander Anthony Mbogo said the incident happened at Mutua Mburi village in Gichugu Constituency.
Mbogo said Annel Maina Gachoki caught 52-year-old Evans Muchira Muthike stealing avocados on a farm where he attacked him using a blunt object, killing him on the spot.
The police boss said after the incident, the suspect took off before he was flushed out of his hideout by police.
“We have arrested him this afternoon and taken him to Gichugu Law Court where court has allowed to detain him for 10 days as we complete investigations,” said Mbogo.
