Two National Police Reservists were on Tuesday attacked by suspected Al Shabaab militants in Mandera County.
The pair was believed to have been part of a team that was on surveillance duty around Olla Division when the incident happened.
The officers were ambushed at around 7 pm by an armed 30-man gang said to be part of the Al Shabab terror group known for recurrent attacks in the region.
“The two reservists were part of a team on routine patrol within Lanqura Location when they were waylaid by a gang of about 30 Al Shabaab militias,” said the National Police Service (NPS) in a statement on Wednesday.
The police further stated that the officers sustained serious injuries.
As the police assure the public of beefing up the security in the region, it continues to urge them to be on the lookout for criminal activities.
