LSK President Nelson Havi now says he cannot represent anyone opposed to Deputy President William Ruto or his United Democratic Alliance party in a court of law.
Havi, who has announced that he will be running for the Westlands parliamentary seat in 2022 under a UDA ticket, says he is now a UDA insider and anyone with problems against his party can seek the services of other lawyers.
“I cannot represent them. There are many lawyers out there who can represent anyone who has problems with the DP or UDA. I am already a UDA member, a Ruto’s general,” Havi told NTV on Monday.
“I do not think we will have such a situation, but if it comes up another person can handle that,” he added.
On Monday, Havi told Radio Citizen that he does not regret legally defending ousted Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa.
“As a lawyer, it is my responsibility to defend everyone who has been arraigned in court… Even if the devil were to be arraigned in court it is my responsibility to defend them,” Havi stated.
He added that his 2022 Westlands parliamentary bid is not for the lucrative pay but service to Kenyans.
Citing what he terms as a good performance at the helm of LSK, Havi said he is confident he can bring development in the constituency.
“I am not going to Parliament because I am looking for money. I am not going to hide money I have stolen before. I have no flaws. I am capable of serving,” said Havi in the interview.
Hours later, he officially announced his move to join the Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party from the Amani National Congress (ANC).
He was received to UDA by DP Ruto at his Karen residence on Monday, alongside Members of Parliament Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Kimani Ichungwah (Kikuyu), Rigathi Gachagwa (Mathura) and Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, among other leaders
