The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) unveiled a new set of state-of-the-art, fully equipped television and radio studios at the Kenya Defence Headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday.
The studios, which were officially opened by Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi, are expected to make it easier to disseminate information to Kenyans and the wider audience.
Strategic communication, according to the KDF, is a critical activity that will support future military operations as well as the national interest.
“KDF considers Strategic Communication as a vital activity that will support future military operations as well as the national interest,” the KDF said in a statement.
The CDF praised the Strategic Communications team office’s efforts in informing and shaping public opinion on Kenya Defence Forces’ activities and engagements during the ceremony, noting that information is a powerful tool, and the KDF is committed to ensuring effective communication of all KDF operations.
The KDF Communication department, formerly known as Public Affairs, was established in 2009 and has since told KDF stories in both operations and peacetime.
In 2021, the KDF command established Strategic Communication in order to meet communication goals in an ever-changing threat environment.
