Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led by Deputy President William Ruto.
The Governor, who is seeking to defend her seat in 2022, was welcomed to the ‘hustler movement’ on Tuesday morning following a meeting with DP Ruto at his official residence in Karen.
“Wale watu ambao tunatuhudumia kule mashinani wote wametuambia chama ni UDA na form ni hustler…,” said Waiguru at Karen.
She was accompanied by a group of about 23 Kirinyaga Members of County Assembly.
Governor Waiguru’s political allegiance has in the recent past been a subject of speculation, after she stated on a Citizen TV interview that defending her seat on a Jubilee ticket, if elections were held today, would be an uphill task.
She claimed that the Mt Kenya region is dissatisfied with how the party has been run over the last five years.
“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed , it would be hard to convince them to vote for me,” Waiguru said last month.
