“Amerix Sparks Heated Debate with Controversial Views on Marriage and Women at 30”

Eric Amunga, known as Amerix, the self-proclaimed advocate for men, recently sparked intense debate after his appearance on NTV’s Your World. In his appearance, Amerix stated that “at 30, a woman is supposed to be married with children,” igniting a firestorm of reactions on social media.

The comment quickly went viral, with many Kenyans weighing in—some agreeing, but a larger portion voicing their disagreement. The outspoken reproductive health specialist and University of Nairobi graduate has long been known for his controversial opinions, but this particular statement hit a nerve, drawing widespread criticism.

Many Kenyan women and men challenged his views, emphasizing that personal fulfillment does not always align with traditional societal expectations. One commenter, @june_nyar_onyuna_laktar, responded passionately, asking, “Is marriage an achievement if I may ask? We have more pressing issues to discuss.” Others echoed similar sentiments, with one remarking, “If my peace of mind gets me labeled a red flag, then I’ll be the reddest red flag there is.”

Critics also questioned Amerix’s authority on the matter. @dr.keziah_njuguna sarcastically commented, “A divorced man advising married people,” while @kamil.lk37 bluntly stated, “Any man above 30, divorced or single, is a walking red flag.” Another commenter, @fashioniconstan, dismissed his views, writing, “Please don’t make your mothers’ choices our choices. We know better, and that’s why we are patient and selfish with ourselves.”

Despite the backlash, Amerix did receive some support, particularly from those who align with his traditional values. One commenter, @samwestke, likened finding the right partner to making popcorn: “At the right time, I the Lord will make it happen.”

This is not the first time Amerix has stirred controversy with his hardline views on masculinity and family life. Known for offering advice to men on topics such as overcoming addictions and financial independence, he has amassed a large following of 1.7 million on X. Despite his critics, he remains one of the most influential figures on the platform.

However, many argue that his traditionalist views are increasingly out of step with modern societal values, especially as individual choice and personal fulfillment take precedence over collective expectations.
