Four men, namely David Nyongesa, Charles Abonyo, Nelson Ravasa, and Davis Kamadi, have been sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment by the Kakamega court for committing armed robbery and gang rape. Senior Magistrate Dolphina Alego of the Kakamega Court handed down the sentence on Thursday, ruling that each of the four accused would serve 30 years for all three charges. The four were found guilty of raping a woman in 2019 near the Kenya Power area on the outskirts of Kakamega city and stealing valuables worth Ksh.146,075 from her. However, Patrick Okinda, one of the suspects, was acquitted and released after DNA test results did not match those of the victim or his colleagues.
