AMERICAN SINGER AKON CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT ELECT- WILLIAM RUTO

Senegalese- American singer Akon, real name Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, has congratulated Kenya’s president-elect William Ruto on his victory in the August General Election.

After the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati made the announcement on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya, Akon took to social media, lauding Dr. Ruto for the victory.

“Congratulations to my dear brother William Ruto as he is declared winner of Presidential Election in Kenya,” he wrote on Instagram.

Akon joins fellow entertainment bigwig Tanzanian Bongo star Diamond Platnumz in lauding the win. Diamond emphasized the need to unite as a nation and focus on the nation’s growth.

“Congratulations to Kenyans for concluding the electoral exercise and getting a president today. Right now, it’s not “team Ruto, Wajackoyah or team Raila Odinga” it is team Kenya. Right now together, we advance the development of Kenya and Kenyans in general.”

Other entertainers who have joined the laud bandwagon include, comedian Njugush, gospel singer Emmy Kosgei, and Dj Joe Mfalme.

On the other hand world leaders also congratulated the president-elect; among them South Sudan president Salva Kiir, Ethiopia prime minister Abiy Ahmed, Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Former president of Somali Mohamed Farmaajo, Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu and others.
