NORMAL ELECTRICITY SUPPLY WILL RESUME SOON- KENYA POWER

Some parts of the country experiencing power blackouts may continue to battle darkness for a little while longer, this is according to Kenya Power.

The company, in a statement released on Wednesday night, regretted that its counterpart Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) was unable to restore the power supply on time as earlier promised.

Kenya Power stated that KETRACO, which is the body mandated with operating and maintaining the nation’s high voltage electricity transmission grid, faced challenges in reinstalling the power but is committed to bring normalcy.

“KETRACO is experiencing a delay in restoration of the Suswa-Embakasi power line. Normal electricity will resume as soon as KETRACO’S technical team complete the ongoing repair works,” read the statement.

Areas that are still affected include parts of Embakasi, Kitengela, Athi River, Industrial area, parts of Langata, Jamhuri, Kilimani and Kileleshwa, the Nairobi CBD, Hurlingham, Syokimau and Westlands.

The infamous blackout that has since left Kenyans tallying countless losses, was reportedly caused by a collapsed tower on the Kiambere-Embakasi High Voltage transmission power line on Tuesday.

Since then, the electricity utility company has been promising to reinstate electricity by the end of day but was unable to deliver.

“Engineers from the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) are on site to repair the line and pave way for the restoration of normal power supply by 5PM this evening,” read an earlier statement.
