Across India, more and more people are opting to go under the knife to become taller. They believe that limb lengthening surgery will propel their careers and personal happiness to new heights.

The operation requires their surgeon to break their legs before attaching rods, frames and bolts. This is followed by months of recovery during which the patients’ healing limbs grow a millimetre each day. But the process does not always go well, leaving some patients crippled.
